Preventative Action

About two months ago I slipped and fell on some ice and I’m still feeling it today.

It was so dumb. I saw the ice, and thought “Wow, that looks really slippery.” and then suddenly I was on my back staring at the sky. Thankfully I didn’t hit my head, and I’m just as thankful that no one saw as well. I had a nice opportunity to lay there for a second without judgement and work out what the heck had just happened.

In dealing with the pain that I’m still currently having from this incident, I’m constantly reminded of how easily preventable this could have been. Had I been walking with an ever so slight tilt forward I would have fallen frontwards and been able to catch myself rather than falling backwards and hurting myself.

Preventative action is often not truly appreciated until something worth preventing occurs.
